Introductory Interview

  • Identify Client Needs -- how the room is used, how many people use it, formal vs. casual, children/pets, etc.
  • Assess Stylistic Preference -- find pieces you love, items that don't fit, personal treasures and inspiration photos to help define the style of the room.
  • Establish Plans -- Discuss  budget, timing & logistical concerns.

Design Proposal & Budget

  • Draw -- Develop floor plans & hand drawings that include architectural details, layout, drapery designs & custom furniture.
  • Sample -- Provide fabric samples, color swatches & photographs of all furnishings.
  • Budget -- Outline all costs and timing associated with the project.

Project Presentation

  • Present -- Share room plans and  selections for all fabrics and samples, with alternate options built in.  Explain the process behind the design choices and the historical influences/inspiration for the project.
  • Feedback -- Clients share adjustments and make final selections. Review revised plans.
  • Authorization -- Once plans are finalized, approval is given to purchase. Payment is delivered.

Administration & Purchasing

  • Purchase -- Place orders with vendors.
  • Schedule -- Plan all construction, deliveries and Installations.
  • Troubleshoot -- Investigate and resolve any issues that arise, track down delayed orders and ensure timely delivery.

Project Installation

  • Coordinate -- Meet with all Contractors, Millworkers, Upholsterers and Workrooms, Restoration/Refinishers, Painters, etc.
  • Execute -- Ensure all deliveries, installations and furnishing placement are executed with precision.
  • Details -- Dress and style all window treatments, accessories and furnishing.

Complete & Publish

  • Share -- Send finished photos to design sites, blogs & social media
  • Invite -- Host events and design showcases to share the completed space 
  • Publish -- Contact national magazines, websites and television producers to promote the project
  • Nominate -- Work with committees and design appreciation boards to elect project for eligible awards.
